From one standpoint, part of this ongoing rain series has involved, through a combination of dry brush with impasto techniques, the emphasis of contrast between near-space and far-space, distinct versus indistinct forms.
Water, specifically the depiction of rain, has held an important place in my artwork. The distorting quality imposed on objects seen through wet windshields remains an endless source of fascination for me. Through my processes I have enjoyed taking the "real", and recording these patterns of color, texture, line, mass, and value in a representational manner. The result is abstraction without being abstract.
