Christine Kashuba
Creating cyanotypes combines all the things Christine loves best: drawing, painting, photography, and printmaking. The cyanotype process involves creating images with the sun and light as the active agents. Using this historic Prussian blue-printing technique, she gathers botanicals, found textures, and everyday treasures, arranging them into thoughtful compositions. Each image holds a sense of wonder—where shadow, light, and chemistry interact in ways that can never be fully controlled. Creating cyanotypes celebrates the process as much as the outcome, resulting in artwork that feels tactile and connected to the rhythms of the natural world.
Christine graduated from UBC Okanagan in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in printmaking and photography. Her creative explorations extend naturally into teaching, where she shares the joy of cyanotypes with students of all ages. Loved for its simplicity and striking visual impact, the process offers a perfect blend of science and creativity. She continues her artistic adventures in her home studio, open by appointment throughout the year and every First Friday of the month.
