Christine Kashuba
Creating cyanotypes combines all the things Christine loves best: drawing, painting, photography and printmaking. It encourages her to mix mark-making and mad-scientist in collaboration with the sun to develop a collection of images. Christine finds the “full spectrum” of imagining and creating as engaging as the finished work.
The Cyanotype process involves creating images with the sun and light as the active agent. Initially botanical images Christine’s work has expanded to incorporate photographic, drawn and painted images along with figurative, found and botanical subjects. The possibilities are endless and on a sunny day she can be found going around sourcing out places to create images. It’s an evolving process where known and unknown elements combine to create these graphic blue and white images.
Graduating from UBC Okanagan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009 with majors in printmaking and photography Christine continues her explorations in her home studio which you can visit by appointment throughout the year.
Christine is inspired by the quote "Art is imagination at play in the field of time" by J. Cameron.
