Jeanne always loved making marks on paper and throughout her varied career. She continued to pursue mark-making - painting, drawing, pottery, photography, textiles – always waiting for the day when she had more time. And now…

“I love the creative process. When I start a painting, I have no idea where I’m going to end up. I like to improvise; not having a plan helps me stay alert to what’s happening on the canvas. And although I like the adventure of not knowing, it creates apprehension. For me, that’s the creative challenge - trust the process and continue making marks. ”

Although Jeanne finds inspiration in the simple things of everyday life: the colours and energy of a farmers' market, the vibrancy of nature and the expressiveness of people, her work is often an abstraction of what she sees. She works with shapes, line, texture and colour, reducing identifiable objects to their simplest forms and exploring the relationships between them.

Her focus is on the process of creating rather the outcome of her efforts. Not knowing is the greatest adventure.

As one of her favourite painters, Henri Matisse said...  “Creativity takes Courage”
