At 71, I have lived more than three quarters of my life on the same piece of land, reflecting this geography in my art and thinking. Earlier in my career I rightly claimed to be self-taught. However, in the past few years I have picked up techniques from books and the internet and the list of my valued teachers is growing: with Julie Oakes, James Postil, Gary Whitley, Suzanne Northcott and David Langevin. I am an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, North Okanagan Chapter and the Okanagan Artists of Canada.
I have shown my work locally in group shows including “Spirit of the Monashee” at the Vernon Art Gallery and at the Okanagan Artists of Canada show at Paddle Wheel Park. I also participate in a small gallery in the Village Green Hotel Lobby. I have contributed to the arts in this rural community through the Monashee Arts Council. I currently teach a small painting class to a group of adults and home-schooled teens. I piloted the formation of the Lumby Arts Co-op and the establishment of The Village Gallery in Lumby. I have an ongoing display at the Village Gallery.
