As a child and teenager, drawing and painting gave me an outlet for creativity and joy in a rather chaotic environment. As a young adult, family and career put my artwork on the back burner, although I continued to use my creativity with children in the classroom. Now, in retirement, I have all the time I want for creating and it is wonderful!
At present, I work mostly with acrylics in my paintings but enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone, also using oils and watercolour. I enjoy bold colours and the variety of mediums to complement a painting. I extend my love of nature and gardening into my paintings using vibrant colours, light and texture. I am drawn to closeups of flowers and trees and create in a representational style. Like a child in a candy store, I am enthralled with all the choices and avenues I may go. I hope that my work will make fellow nature lovers smile while instilling curiosity and warmth in others.
